TIMBER LEGEND FOAL WINS AT GOLDEN GATE!
Thursday, May 21, 2009
Congratulations to owner/breeder Paul Hagemann for his success with Deacon Speakin' who won a $32,000 maiden race going 1-mile on the turf. The three-year-old gelding laid close to the pace and then took over in the second half of the race steadily increasing his advantage to a 4-length win. This success put Deacon's record to 1 win, 2 seconds, and 1 third in just 5 starts.

Deacon Speakin' is one of only two starters by Timber Legend and the other starter, T.J. Timber won at two and is stakes-placed at three.

Timber Legend is a winning son of Storm Cat and a half brother to two Grade-1 winners. We are breeding some of our own best mares to Timber Legend this year. These include Forty Romances a stake-producing daughter of Forty Niner, Oregon Derby winner Ochoco Salmon, and the very gutsy multiple-winner One Fast Cowgirl!

For those of you who have held off breeding your mares this year we are offering you a deal that you shouldn't refuse . . . breed to Timber Legend for FREE!!! That is no stud fee and no booking fee for the rest of 2009!

BAQUERO - For Race OR Sport
Thursday, April 02, 2009
We have found over the recent years that Baquero not only produces fantastic race horses, but outstanding sport horses prospects as well. Baquero often adds an elegant head, small typey ears, intelligence, and almost always improves on the mares disposition. He crosses well with heavy warmblood type mares by adding a bit of refinement and finer mares by adding substance without appearing bulky. Call or email Jessica today to see Baquero and some of his 2009 foals. (jessica@oakhurstequine.com or 503-554-0227) Stands for $1,000 stud fee. Cooled Semen available for breeds other than Thoroughbreds.

BAQUERO - SIRE OF THE YEAR
Wednesday, April 01, 2009
BAQUERO was named Oregon's sire of the year for the fourth time in the last five years for leading Oregon Breeders Dr. and Mrs. Jack Root. When his first crop hit the ground in 2003 he led both the state freshman and juvenile listings with the earners of $174,595 including the $60,000-plus contribution of two-year-old filly champ Americas Pride at Emerald Downs, and Classa Red Wine in Canada. He was named champion state sire in 2004, with $245,326 earned by his first two crops and included his second champion runner in three-year-old Might E Man. In 2006 the son of champion two-year-old Forty Niner was again voted state champion sire with $241,722 in earnings. In 2007 Baquero appeared at the top of the year-end earnings with $305,845 and also led the juvenile list with $74,509 of which $42,425 was earned by Oregon champion juvenile filly and Os West Oregon Futurity winner Jimbos Fire Ant. In 2008 Baquero's 18 winners were highlighted by the championship performance of now two-time Oregon champion filly Jimbos Fire Ant. Baquero also sired three other stakes performers in 2008: two-time Invitational Handicap-placed Baby Sunshine, twice Sun Downs stakes-placed Schu True Sleeper and Oregon Hers Stakes runner-up Tequila Tipsy. Baquero has 13 stakes winners and an additional 10 stakes-placed runners among his first six crops, which totals 161 foals, giving him 14.4 percent stakes horses. In 2009 both Jimbos Fire Ant and sophomore filly De Cantina who is unbeaten in both her starts, have won Invitational Handicaps. Baquero won two allowance races at Keeneland during his three-year-old campaign. He is one of eight winners - which include three stakes horses, led by stakes winner and Belmont Stakes (G1) placed Royal Assault - produced out of $1.2 million earner Fit for a Queen.
