Santa Anita and Del Mar Stakes Winner of $729,000!
Boasting virtually perfect conformation,
Bagshot is that rare individual that competed successfully against the best horses of his time,
and stayed completely sound through a 31-start race career.

BAGSHOT is one of the most accomplished racehorses to ever enter stud in the Pacific Northwest. He won the 1999 $250,000 California Cup Classic. BAGSHOT raced exclusively on the ultra-tough big-three Southern California circuit, and never started for a claiming price. He was beaten just a half-length by MALEK ($2,382,623) in the Grade 1 Santa Anita Handicap and was also multiple grade-2 stakes-placed. He won a 6-furlong stakes at Del Mar and was twice stakes-placed at age 2. Bagshot went on to finish in the top three in 17 of 31 career starts, demonstrating soundness and durability along the way.

Bagshot was frequently sent to battle the lions. He competed gamely with the best of his generation including SILVER CHARM, SKIP AWAY, FREE HOUSE, TIZNOW, BUDROYAL, MALEK, and GENTLEMEN. He wasn't disgraced by these giants and he defeated many good stakes winners such as GENTLEMEN ($3,608,588), DON'T BLAME RIO, MATEO, DEL MAR GRAY, INDIAHOMA, MUSICAL GAMBLER, SKY JACK, SMOKY CINDER, CANTBETOUCHED, STEEL RUHLR, etc.

Bagshot earned Beyer Speed Numbers of 109, 108, 107, and 106. His Beyers were over 100 ten times. Among current Northwest stallions only Klinsman (Ire), Defensive Play, and Cahill Road ever recorded a lifetime best higher than Bagshot's 109 Beyer rating.

Bagshot has a hot sire pedigree and he comes from a good female family that produces sound horses that do a lot of winning. Bagshot is a son of SMOKESTER, California's #1 Sire by Lifetime Average-Earnings Index. Smokester is also the sire of the phenomenal three-time Grade-1 winner FREE HOUSE ($3,178,971), 2001 multiple SW CHANNING WAY (173,430), California Breeders' Champion Stakes winner EARL OF DANDY, and several other stakes-placed winners. Bagshot's female family is loaded with quality and has produced a substantial number of horses that are multiple winners over several racing seasons. His dam, Norrsken, a good producing daughter of the fine Northern Dancer stallion NORTHERN JOVE, was herself a 7-time winner of $76,227. Norrsken is a half-sister to SENATE APPOINTEE, a multiple stakes-winner of $543,330, to MERCEDES MISS, winner of $121,414, and to Midwest King, a 7-time winner of $261,454.

BAGSHOT will provide a good outcross for many Northwest bloodlines and he should add some soundness and durability to the pedigree mix. BAGSHOT entered stud in 2002.
2010 Stud Fee of $1,000 LFG
